Reflexology

Reflexology is the ancient system of foot or hand massage that uses the reflex points to stimulate the body’s circulation and lymphatic systems, the organs and glands. It involves a touching technique to stimulate the pressure points in the feet/hands to be able to diagnose and treat many ailments.

The treatment relaxes the entire body and creates the paths for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance for the person.

The principle is that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all organs, systems and glands of the body making the feet a “mirror image” of the body.

More about Reflexology

The study of the reflex points and meridians (electrical system in the body), identifies imbalances that may show up within the feet years before the symptoms appear. When addressed early, concerns identified through Reflexology can be prevented for good health to continue. The Chinese concept of meridian therapy is an important part of the foundation of reflexology.

The therapy has been documented on four continents: Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America. It was first recorded in Egypt about 2330BC and many ancient civilizations have practiced reflexology.

The early Taoists are credited with originating many Chinese health practises. The Cherokee tribes of North America to this day practice a form of reflexology. Traditional East Asian foot reflexology is called Zoku Shin Do. This is the foot portion of the Japanese massage technique. The roots of Zoku Shin Do go back to ancient China and are over 5000 years old.

The practice of acupressure using the fingers later turned into the practice of acupuncture using needles.

Reflexology is suitable for health problems of all age groups and is compatible with all other forms of medicine.
